MRCC Swansea received a Mayday call from a yacht believed to be in the Taw Torridge estuary.
Two members of the team searched the estuary from Barnstaple to Instow. Nothing found.

Two persons cut off by the tide on Zulu bank in the river mouth. Assisted Westward Ho! team.
Casualties recovered safe and well by Appledore ILB.

Assisted Westward Ho! team in recovering a dog fallen over the cliff at Westard Ho! Animal recovered
safe and well.

Canoe seen adrift in River Taw. Recovered with assistance of Royal Marines landing craft and
taken ashore at Zeta berth.
5. 3rd March 1406 - 1628 UTC
Derelict vessel on fire off Apledore shipyard. Called to assist Devon Fire and Rescue with access
to the vessel across the mud. No assistance was required and the fire successfully extinguished.

Assisted Westward Ho! team with recovery of a dog over the cliff at Mermaid Pool. Animal recovered
safe and well.

Assisted Westward Ho! team. Two people in the water at Appledore. Casualties recovered safe
and well by Appledore ILB.

Yacht adrift in River Taw. Ran ashore at Zeta berth. Vessel secured to RM Zeta berth landing
stage.
9. 29th May 1413 - 1500 UTC
Four boys reported as cut off on a sandbank at Fremington Quay. Boys located and found to be
in no danger. Safety advice given.
10. 29th May 1532 - 1558 UTC
Two persons reported as in trouble in a dinghy off Instow beach. Two men found to be changing
a mooring rope on a buoy and in no danger. Returned ashore safe and well.
11. 4th June 1235 - 1344 UTC
Called to take details of a small motor boat towed in to Instow Quay by Appledore Offshore Lifeboat.
Vessel experienced engine trouble and requested assistance. 5 occupants ashore safe and well.

Three persons seen with a dinghy off Instow beach. Vessel located on a sandbank. Three men later
found safe and well ashore.
13. 17th June 1601 - 1656 UTC
Tender capsized in the River Taw off Instow beach, two people in the water. Casualties swam
ashore safely. Vessel and equipment recovered by Appledore ILB.
14. 1st July 1616 - 1720 UTC
Red flare reported seen from Torridge bridge. Instow team members searched from Bideford Long
Bridge to Yelland jetty. Nothing found.
15. 6th July 0147 - 0224 UTC
Two yachts adrift in River Torridge. Both vessels recoverd by Appledore ILB and secured at Bideford
quay.
16. 11th July 1329 - 1359 UTC
Four persons seen walking on sandbanks in the River Taw. In danger of being cut off by rising
tide. Assisted Westward Ho! team. All 4 persons returned to shore safely. Safety advice given.
17. 30th July 1608 - 1731 UTC
Report of 8 children possibly cut off on a mudbank off Fremington Quay. Croyde Coastguard attended
on the Northern side of the river. Rescue helicopter SRG 169 also assisted with an overflight of the river at Fremington
quay. Nothing found.
18. 11th August 1320 - 1335 UTC
Called to assist Westward Ho! Coastguard with a cliff faller at Abbotsham. The casualty was
winched by Rescue helicopter 169 and taken to NDDH. Instow CG stood down at station.
19. 24th August 1945 - 2046 UTC
Red flare seen from 20ft cabin cruiser off Appledore. Vessel suffered engine failure and was towed to its mooring by Bideford
and District Sea Cadets launch, who informed Coastguard.. Two crew ashore safe and well. Safety advice given.

Yacht Serona dragging her anchor in River Torridge off Instow quay. Vessel recovered by Appledore ILB and returned
to moorings without damage.

Yacht Sequoia en route from Clovelly to Instow, encountered difficulties crossing Bideford bar, due to high winds and seas.
Vessel assisted by Appledore lifeboat and assisted to berth at Instow yacht club by Appledore ILB. No damage.

Small inflatable dinghy reported washed ashore between Yelland oil terminal and Yelland jetty. No persons on board, No
identifying marks. Secured above high water line and location passed to Swansea Rescue Co-ordination Centre.

Report of stolen vessel sinking off Instow beach. Search carried out but nothing found.

Assisted Police units and Appledore ILB with a search for a missing person, Search of derelict vessels carried out off
Appledore ship yard. Nothing found.

Carried out search of the River Taw after a man was seen to jump from Barnstaple long bridge. Nothing found.

Carried out low water search of of Taw estuary from Instow CRE to Iron bridge. Missing person. Nothing found.

Assisted ambulance service with evacuation of a casualty with a broken arm on Instow beach.

8 persons stranded off Crow Point. Called to assist Croyde Coastguard and Appledore Lifeboats. All 8 persons rescued. Stood
down at CRE.
